R6 Marketplace is Ubisoft’s player trading platform for eligible Rainbow Six Siege items, but it remains closed under the latest official economy announcement reviewed for this article. Players should treat older buying and selling tutorials as historical information, rather than instructions for a service currently accepting trades.

The distinction matters when a search result still displays inventory cards, prices or login instructions. An indexed marketplace page can explain the original service while a newer developer announcement changes its operating status. Here is what Ubisoft has confirmed, how the original system worked, and what players can safely do while waiting for further information.

R6 Marketplace status: what Ubisoft has confirmed

Ubisoft’s June 30, 2026 Marketplace and economy update states that Marketplace will remain closed while the company rebuilds its foundations. The announcement does not provide a reopening date.

The company identifies account theft, botting, credit transfers and economic instability among the problems it wants to address. It describes stronger protection, monitoring and a more balanced trading system as necessary work. That supports a clear practical answer: there is no confirmed date in this announcement on which players should expect trading to resume.

A timetable from an earlier article should therefore not be treated as a promise. In particular, an estimate expressed in months is different from an announced launch date. Anyone publishing a current guide needs to check the dated developer updates before reproducing older access requirements or suggesting that a technical workaround will restore trading.

What the marketplace was designed to do

The official marketplace information page describes a system for exchanging eligible cosmetic items for R6 Credits. Buyers placed an order with a maximum price, and the system looked for a matching seller. Sellers entered an asking price and waited for an eligible purchase order.

That arrangement differed from buying a fixed-price item directly from the in-game shop. A listing needed a counterparty, so creating an order did not guarantee that a transaction would happen. An item’s apparent desirability also did not guarantee a particular sale price.

Ubisoft’s published explanation specified a 10% transaction fee retained from a completed sale. It also explained that only currently tradable items appeared, and that an owned item missing from the sale inventory could not be traded at that time. These are descriptions of the documented system, not confirmation that its rules will be identical after any relaunch.

Players should avoid planning around an assumed future fee, item list or order limit. Rebuilding a marketplace can change how participation works. The useful information to keep is the distinction between inventory ownership, item eligibility, an asking price and a completed transaction.

Older eligibility guides need a date check

Ubisoft’s Operation New Blood announcement described marketplace access for players with clearance level 25 and two-factor authentication. It also noted that account or in-game sanctions could affect access. Those details explain the historical launch requirements.

They do not establish the conditions for a future reopening. A player could meet every requirement described in an old tutorial and still be unable to trade because the platform itself is closed. Confusing service status with individual eligibility can lead to wasted troubleshooting or unnecessary changes to a working account.

Before following a guide, look for its publication date and the date of the source it relies on. A page updated recently can still repeat information from an older season. The strongest evidence is a specific current announcement from Ubisoft that explicitly addresses availability.

R6 Credits and Renown are different currencies

Ubisoft’s currency support guide distinguishes Renown earned through play from R6 Credits purchased through the official shop or Ubisoft Store. Both have uses in the game, but they should not be treated as interchangeable balances.

The support page says purchased credits can take up to 24 hours to appear. If they remain missing after that period, Ubisoft asks players to contact support with purchase information and a screenshot of their transaction history. Buying the same package again before checking the original transaction can complicate the problem.

For a missing balance, record the store used, the purchase date and whether payment completed. Keep receipts private when discussing the issue in public forums. A marketplace closure and a delayed credit purchase are different problems, so use the support route that matches the transaction actually made.

Protect the account before chasing a cosmetic

Ubisoft’s Year 11 player protection update links marketplace improvements to stronger security, fraud detection and economy management. It also says buying, selling, sharing or trading accounts is prohibited under its terms. Buying an entire account is therefore not an authorized substitute for an unavailable item trade.

The separate two-step verification guide explains that login attempts from untrusted devices require a verification code when the feature is activated. Authentication adds protection, but a code should remain under the account holder’s control. Someone offering to fix trading access does not need your recovery codes.

Use a saved official bookmark or navigate from Ubisoft’s own website. Check the destination before entering credentials, especially when a message promises priority access, a rare item or compensation. A familiar logo and a convincing screenshot do not prove that a login form belongs to Ubisoft.

Crave’s guide to checking a website login covers the broader habit of verifying where credentials are entered. Its BotPower privacy and safety explainer also examines why unofficial services connected to virtual worlds deserve careful scrutiny. Neither article is an Ubisoft support channel.

What to do if an account or inventory looks wrong

If items appear missing across platforms, first check which Ubisoft account is connected. Ubisoft’s cross-platform sharing documentation says supported content requires the same Ubisoft account, or console accounts linked to it. It also cautions that not all content carries over.

Do not unlink accounts impulsively to test a theory. Identify the platform, the item and the account involved, then read the relevant support instructions. A precise description is more useful than saying an entire inventory disappeared when only one category is affected.

If credentials were entered on an external or unsecured website, Ubisoft’s credential-sharing guidance recommends changing the password and enabling two-step verification. Preserve relevant messages and transaction records for support, while avoiding public disclosure of account identifiers or authentication details.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is R6 Marketplace open?

The latest official economy statement reviewed here says it remains closed. Check Ubisoft’s dated announcements for a later explicit reopening notice before attempting any trade.

Has Ubisoft announced a reopening date?

The June 30, 2026 update does not provide one. Predictions, countdowns and claims of early access are not equivalent to an official launch announcement.

Can I sell an item for cash?

The documented official marketplace used R6 Credits. It should not be described as a cash withdrawal service or a guaranteed way to earn money from cosmetic items.

Why does an old page still explain trading?

A published product page can retain explanatory text after availability changes. Read it alongside the newer status announcement, with the announcement governing whether the service is currently accessible.

Should I buy credits in anticipation of reopening?

A reopening date and future rules are unconfirmed in the reviewed announcement. Make any purchase based on a present, clearly described use and the applicable store terms, rather than a predicted resale opportunity.
